Small Groups & Sunday School Classes

Elective Classes

A short-term study focused on one topic.

Sunday, December 1st - Sunday, December 22nd

"Changed in the Waiting"
The season of Advent honors our waiting. Our time spent waiting can shape us―if we let it. The virtues of hope, love, joy, and peace are the hallmarks of God’s work in all of history. Advent is especially marked by these virtues, and so are we when we lean into the transformational opportunity of this unique season in the Christian calendar. Journey through the season of Advent to discover that waiting is not empty time at all. It is full of God’s presence and opportunities to be changed.

Join us for the 4 weeks of Advent for a short small group opportunity from 9:30-10:15am on Sunday mornings. The study includes daily individual devotions and weekly group reflections.

Sunday, September 8th - Sunday, November 24th

"Habits of the Household"
Discover simple habits and easy-to-implement daily rhythms that will help you find meaning beyond the chaos of family life as you create a home where kids and parents alike practice how to love God and each other.

You long for tender moments with your children--but do you ever find yourself too busy to stop, make eye contact, and say something you really mean? Daily habits are powerful ways to shape the heart--but do you find yourself giving in to screen time just to get through the day? You want to parent with purpose--but do you know how to start?

Each chapter in Habits of the Household ends with practical patterns, prayers, or liturgies that your family can put into practice right away. As you create liberating rhythms around your everyday routines, you will find your family has a greater sense of peace and purpose as your home becomes a place where, above all, you learn how to love.

Scripture Groups

Do you ever want to belong to a small group, but don't know where to start? We have 6 different readings plans, each 12 sessions long, that pull from the entire arc of Scripture. We will equip you with the content, discussion guides, and small group structure!

Scripture Reading Plans:
Direction: for those amidst change
Relief: for those who toil
Reunion: for those who feel distant
Victory: for those who are afflicted
Restoration: for those facing brokenness
Hope: for those experiencing loss

Timeframe: each reading plan is 12 sessions, this could be done in 12 weeks (3 months), 24 weeks (6 months), once a month (12 months), and beyond!
Location: you can do these groups anywhere at anytime! If you'd like to host a group at HNAZ, we are more than happy to make that happen.
Fun Fact: if you do all 6 reading plans, you will cover the entire Bible!
Contact: the button below will link you to Pastor Tyler's email. Send him a message with any interests or questions, and we will get you started!

Young Adult - Not Currently Meeting
The young adults' group at HNAZ is a community of believers living intentionally in order to grow in our faith and impact the world for Jesus. This group uses Scripture, teaching, and thoughtful conversation to dive into many of life's questions. Through mentorship and interaction, we seek to more closely align ourselves with God's will for our lives. We also have breakfast and arrange fun social gatherings.
Life Journey
Room 204
This Sunday school class for adults is led by Scott and Sasha Myers. The goal of the Life Journey class is to create community and spiritual growth that can only come from doing life together. If you are looking for good community and safe conversation, this group could be a great fit for you.
New Beginnings
Room 123
New beginnings is a catch all class for any age or life experience that is looking for fellowship and bible teaching. Maybe you find yourself at a transition in life or a liminal space, or maybe you find yourself in a secure season. Regardless of where you are at, this class will give you the space to share about those things openly and receive encouragement and Bible teaching to encourage you in your faith journey. This class is led by Fred Miller and Bruce Evans.
Cornerstone
Room 202
Cornerstone has been meeting for years, and will continue to meet for years to come! This is a group of faithful members of HNAZ who desire to know God and one another better through His Word. This class is led by Dale Hawkins, and is studying the book of Daniel.
God Seekers
Room 116
The Godseekers class looks at the application of God's Word for our everyday lives and the culture we live in. Special emphasis is on how we can relate to our culture as Salt and Light for Jesus Christ. We spend time sharing class opportunities of how the Holy Spirit motivated us over the past week to be a blessing to others. We emphasize a Biblical worldview that helps us to defend the reasons for our faith. All adults are welcome. Led by Tom Ringenberg
Harvest Workers
Legacy Room
The Harvest Worker's is a traditional Bible study class led by our senior adult ministry leaders. In this class, we study God's Word in depth using our Bibles and the provided quarterly Sunday School manuals. We use an interactive approach, so questions and discussions are expected. Beyond understanding God's Word, we seek to learn how to apply it to our lives. Fellowship with one another is another important part of our class. Although we tend to be a little older, all ages of adults are welcome. This class is led by Tim Guy, and is studying the book of Revelation.
